At Berlin’s Charité Hospital, one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals, students get practice-oriented training at a newly-opened learning center. It is equipped with 1,000 anatomical models and simulators.
Students can also use patient simulators to practice diagnosing 250 diseases in several languages. Among those studying here are health professionals from regions in dire need of health care specialists, such as sub-Saharan Africa. That region alone bears 25 percent of the global burden of disease, but has only 3 percent of the world’s available medical personnel.
